Celebration of Achievement Evening 2009

The video at the foot of this article was filmed live at the Celebration of Achievement Evening. Lauren Brennan and William Simpson speak of their experiences in St. Michael's and how they have prepared them for their new lives at university.

As is customary on such occasions, subject prizes were given to the best students in each year group.  In the case of Years 11, 12 and 13, awards were presented according to performance in actual public examinations.Laptop Winners 2009

The highest achieving Year 11 students were given brand new Toshiba laptops.  Students are free to use them as they see fit, although the intention is obviously that they will be put to good use with continuing studies into the Sixth Form.Bursary Winners 2009

The climax of the evening is the award of the St. Michael's Bursary.  This is a cheque for £3000.  It is not means tested.  Recipients are selected on the basis of embodying the school's mission statement through exceptional acts of charity, outstanding examination results and habitual adherence to the Sixth Form dress code.  The intention is that the bursary should assist students in their continuing studies at university.  This year's winners are Lauren Brennan, William Simpson, Jamie Vovrosh and Hannah McLaughlin.
