English Department Auction - 8th December 2011

The English department is hosting its second annual fundraising auction for Rwanda. This fun event will be held in conjunction with a cheese and wine evening. We'd like to invite all parents, their families and friends, and our neighbouring community to attend. We'll have lots of refreshments available for our students as well.

Once again, the auction promises lots of bargains for those who attend. Lots will start from as little as 50p and you will find a plethora of potential Christmas gifts, fan memorabilia and collectables. Items already donated come from actors, musicians, sports personalities, celebrities, writers and companies. Current highlights include: theatre tickets to see Billy Elliott, Legally Blonde and Reasons to be Pretty; photos signed by Eastenders cast members, Maroon 5, Robbie Coltrane, Kellen Lutz, Justin Lee Collins, Roger Federer, Juliette Lewis and Anton Du Beke; a T-shirt and photo signed by singer Jordin Sparks; tennis wear signed by Ana Ivanovic; and books signed by Martina Cole, Jeffrey Archer, Susan Hill, Anne Fine, Meg Cabot, Emma Thompson and Ranulph Fiennes.

If you have any connections with companies and are able to help us collect donations, please contact the English department. All money raised will support worthy causes in Rwanda. We hope to see you on 8 December, from 6pm in the school hall.

Celebration of Achievement Evening

Wednesday 9th November, 2011

Our celebration of academic achievement takes place shortly.  The highest achievers in each subject will receive special awards in recognition of their hard work.  One of the highlights is always the presentation of laptops to those in the current Year 12 who achieved the best GCSE results in the summer.  Similarly, the best achievers who have just begun their university courses may receive the St. Michael's Scholarship of £3000 to help them continue their studies.
