KS4 Curriculum Overview

Our KS4 curriculum offers ambition, breadth and balance for all of our students.

In Key Stage 4 our curriculum offers the opportunity for students to develop and deepen their knowledge and skills as they prepare students for GCSEs and Level 2 qualification and consider their Post 16 opportunities. The curriculum offered in KS4 is compliant with DFE guidelines.  As a Catholic School we offer a core curriculum of GCSEs in Religious Studies, English (Language and Literature), Mathematics, and combined Science (worth 2 GCSEs), alongside practical Physical Education and PSHE. Students will select three further subjects to study. One of these must be either Geography or History. Alongside this they can select two additional subjects from a variety of academic (e.g. Computer Science, Triple Science), creative (e.g. Art, Drama) and practical (e.g. Food Preparation, Construction) disciplines.

Whilst we do not compel students to follow any particular pathway, we actively encourage many of our students to select a Modern Foreign Language as one of their choices, to qualify them for the English Baccalaureate (EBacc).

We work extremely hard to provide a high standard of pastoral care and guidance, both in and outside of the classroom, so that students secure a solid base with which to flourish and build their future.

The KS4 Pastoral Team is led by:

Mrs R Peachey (Year 11 Pastoral and Academic Learning Coordinator)

The Key Stage 4 team work hard to ensure that students make a smooth transition from our 3 year KS3 into KS4 and are well prepared for their end of KS4 public exams. We have very high expectations of our students, born from a loving concern that all of our students develop and grow into the young men and women they were created by God to be, living out the ideals and values of our Mission Statement. Our teacher work in partnership with our families to ensure that all our students are supported and feel motivated in order to achieve their full potential.

Our taught curriculum is complemented by a broad programme of extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities. We encourage our students to get involved in the school community activities and events, where multiple opportunities for roles of responsibility are available. There are enrichment opportunities and trips organised within subject areas, designed to enhance learning and develop the students’ cultural capital.
