Our KS4 curriculum offers a varied curriculum, following the guidelines for Progress 8.
In Key Stage 4 there is a shift towards preparing students for GCSEs and Post 16 opportunities. The curriculum offered in KS4 is compliant with DFE guidelines. As a Catholic School we have an extended core of Religious Studies, English (Language and Literature), Mathematics, Science (worth 2 GCSEs) practical Physical Education and PSHE. Students then make three further choices, one of which must be an EBACC subject - Modern Foreign Language (French or Spanish), Geography, History or Computer Science. Two additional GCSE choices can then be made, the KS4 curriculum offer is outlined in our “Key Stage 4 Futures booklet”.
We take enormous pride in in providing a high standard of pastoral care and guidance, so that students secure a solid base with which to build their future, this happens both in and outside of the classroom.
The Key Stage 4 Pastoral Team is:
Ms R. Peachey (Year 10 PALC)
Ms V. Irwin (Year 11 PALC)
The Key Stage 4 team work to ensure that students have continuity, in terms of their experience, in each year group and are will prepared to take their GCSEs. Our aim is to ensure that all students reach the high expectations we have for them and live out the ideals set out in our Mission Statement. We work in partnership with our teaching colleagues to ensure that all our students are supported and feel motivated in order to achieve their full potential.
We encourage our students to get involved in the school community activities and events, where multiple opportunities for roles of responsibility are available. There are trips organised within subject areas, all designed to complement and support the curriculum or to assist with Non- Exam Assessments (NEA).
